I Always Have Bad Breath!!!!
Bad Breath is Among “Warning Signs” Of Gum Disease
Dr. Seth Monson here from Main Street Dental in Gresham. Do you have bad breath that does not go away with brushing or mouthrinse? It could be a sign of gum disease, a type of infection that may need to be cleaned by a dental hygienist and dentist. Take a look at the recent ADA article that I read this morning.
From ADA article-email publication 8/21/17:
HealthDay (8/18, Davis) reported that dental visits are important not only for teeth, but also for gums. The article explained that gum disease “can be difficult to catch,” and it can lead to periodontitis, which “has been associated with more serious health issues, such as heart disease and diabetes.” The article noted some medications, genetics, and lifestyle choices can increase the risk of developing gum disease, and “warning signs” that may indicate a problem include “bad breath that won’t go away; red, swollen, sensitive or receding gums or gums that bleed easily; and sensitive or loose teeth that make chewing difficult.” Proper oral hygiene and regular dental visits can help lower the risk of gum disease.

MouthHealthy.org provides additional information on gum disease.
There are a few tips and tricks to help immediately with bad breath:
Floss or waterpick daily, removing the debris and bacteria from in between your gums can help tremendously
Gargle with warm salt water-a lot of bacteria that cause odor reside in the opening to our throats
Use a tongue scraper-this will help not only with bad breath but will also keep the common cold/flu from residing in your mouth
Have a great day Gresham, enjoy the eclipse!
