At Main Street Dental Gresham, we highly value the opportunities we have to use our talents and skills for people’s good. That’s ultimately why we do dentistry – to help people.

The Oregon Dental Association recently posted about Dr. Seth Monson of Main Street Dental Gresham, and some of the charity work which he is involved in:

Dr. Seth Monson owns and operates dental practices in Gresham and Central Point, in addition to helping out part-time at a public health clinic in Medford. When he’s not working at one of these three clinics or spending time with his young family, he provides free dental care to survivors of human trafficking near Portland, through local nonprofits Echo Ranch and My Father’s House.

My Father’s House

My Father’s House is an organization in Gresham, Oregon dedicated to helping homeless families get off the streets for good through a shelter and transitional housing program.

The mission of My Father’s House is to equip homeless families with the life skills necessary to become contributing members of their community.

Echo Ranch

Echo Ranch is a place where people in need of restoration can come to heal through building relationships with mentors and horses. From their website:

We are a faith-based, (non-profit 501c3) organization, dedicated to offering an environment of support and encouragement, which restores the heart, soul, and mind, and strengthens individuals and their families. Our desire is to offer each guest at our ranch the awareness that they are a unique and irreplaceable person, loved by God (who has an amazing plan and purpose for their life).

Each guest who desires to connect with a horse, will have the opportunity to ride, groom, or just pet a specially selected equine partner. They will also be paired with a mentor in a one-on-one session. Our sessions are flexible enough to allow the time required to best serve the individual needs of the person. It is our desire that through these experiences, our guests will learn to trust and grow in faith and confidence as they work with and build a partnership with the horse and mentor.

In addition, Dr. Monson has served with Shepherd’s Door, an addiction recovery ministry for women through the Portland Rescue Mission.

Dr. Monson says that these organizations “…have introduced us to women who have either been through domestic abuse, in recovery from addiction, and/or been saved from human trafficking. We have been able to provide them with a safe, comfortable environment and restore their smiles and teeth through crowns, bridges, fillings, implants, dentures etc. Main Street Dental has tried to do this to show people God’s love and strengthen our local community.”
