Desensitization May Help Children With Autism Spectrum Disorder

A recent article in the Journal of the American Dental Association stated that children with autism spectrum disorder may benefit from repeated, easy visits and  services at the dental office that help to desensitize the fear of the dentist. All of us are created differently, different needs, sensations, and teeth sensitivities. The ADA news article stated that repeated visits will give children more opportunities to practice dental skills at their own pace. Dr. Nelson goes on to state protocols can be implemented for easy dental visits to establish trust and friendship with their dental home. Let us know if we can be that home for your child! We love all of our patients and we value the time making it a nice visit for children with autism spectrum disorder. Call us at 503-665-8283.
